Live Polls puts a question on the screen and voting buttons on every phone in the room, with results filling in live as colored bars. Instant crowd decisions: worship song votes, “where should the retreat be,” this-or-that showdowns.
Building a poll
Create a new Live Polls document from the Feature Library:
- Write your question.
- Add 2 to 8 answers. Each gets a color (tap the dot to change it) — the colors carry through to the phones and the result bars.
In the poll’s Settings (gear icon):
- Show QR Code (on by default) — displays the join QR alongside the poll.
- Show Live Results (on by default) — turn it off to keep results hidden while voting, for a big reveal.
- Result Format — Percentage, Vote Count, or Both.
Display Options covers the Theme for the result bars, Title Graphic, and Background.

Running the poll
- Click the play button, then Start Voting. (If no session is running, one starts automatically — see “Starting and Ending an Interactive Audience Session.”)
- Phones show the question and answer buttons; each tap registers instantly, and the “Voting is live” pill counts votes as they land.
- Stop Voting when you’re done — then Resume for more votes, Reset to clear everything and run it again, or End to close it out.
Quick toggles during play: Show QR Code, Show Live Results, Reorder by Votes (bars re-sort by popularity), and the result format switches.
Each phone gets one vote — first tap counts, refreshing and re-tapping doesn’t double it. Voters see a “Vote counted!” confirmation. No name needed; polls are anonymous.
After the poll ends, an Export CSV button appears so you can keep the numbers.
Tips
- Hidden results + a dramatic reveal (“and the winner is…”) beats watching the bars race for suspense — flip Show Live Results on at the key moment.
- Reset wipes votes permanently. Export the CSV first if you want the record.
