Sidekick Pro has AI built in where it saves you the most prep time: generating game content from a topic. Type “Bible heroes,” get twenty trivia questions. Here’s where it lives, how it works, and the honest fine print.
Finding AI Features
Look for the sparkles icon:
- Trivia and Live Trivia — Add Questions with AI builds full question sets from a subject, with your choice of audience (elementary through adult), difficulty, tone, number of questions (up to 20), answer count, and optional fun facts.
- Survey Says — AI Survey simulates 100 surveyed people (choose the crowd: students, adults, parents of teenagers, grandparents) and produces a ranked answer board with realistic tallies.
- Boxes, Wheel of Destiny, Pick Me, Leaderboard — Add with AI fills your item list from a topic (“animals,” “Bible characters”) — up to 200 items at a time.
- Songs — Auto-Format Lyrics turns messy pasted lyrics into cleanly sectioned slides.

Always Review
Nothing AI-generated goes into your documents automatically. Every generation lands in a review screen where each question, answer, clue, and tally is editable — fix, delete, and adjust, then click Add. The review step matters because AI can be wrong: check every fact before game night, especially at higher difficulties.
For ministry content specifically, the AI is instructed to keep everything family-friendly, stick to widely-agreed biblical facts, avoid denominational debates, and stay out of partisan politics. There’s also a content filter behind the AI — anything inappropriate that slips through gets dropped or blanked before it ever reaches your review screen.
Is My Content Sent to Third Parties?
Short answer: your topic and related game content are processed by AI providers, routed through Sidekick’s own secure servers. When you generate content, the subject you type (plus your existing items, so the AI avoids duplicates) is sent through Sidekick’s servers to our AI providers — Anthropic’s Claude, with Google’s Gemini as backup. Sidekick manages all provider access server-side; there are no API keys for you to set up, and audience data and your personal account details are not part of generation requests.
Monthly Usage and Limits
AI use is measured in tokens with a monthly allowance based on your plan, shown in Preferences → Usage alongside your reset date. Sidekick gives you a heads-up at 75% and 90%; at 100%, AI generation pauses until the 1st of the month (“AI usage limit reached for this month”). Everything else in the app keeps working — AI limits never affect running your games.
If you don’t see AI buttons at all, your current plan doesn’t include AI features — check Preferences → Usage for your tier, or see “Managing Your Subscription & Purchases.”
Tips
- Be specific in your subject: “Old Testament kings” beats “the Bible,” and “90s one-hit wonders” beats “music.”
- Generate a few extra questions and cut the weakest in review — curating beats regenerating.
- AI Survey results are a starting point; nudge the tallies to match what your students would actually say.
