Everything your audience sees runs through the presentation display, and everything that controls it lives in the right sidebar under DISPLAY PREVIEW is the live representation of exactly what’s on the audience screen.
Opening the Display
- Connect your projector or TV (HDMI, DisplayPort, Thunderbolt, or USB-C — or AirPlay to an Apple TV set to “Use as Separate Display,” not mirroring).
- Click the display menu in the right sidebar (it reads Open Display when nothing is connected).
- Choose your screen: Open Audience Display to [screen] (Full-Screen) for show time, or the (Windowed) option if you want a movable window.

When connected, the menu shows a green dot with the screen name. Choose Close Audience Display to shut it off; to move it to a different screen, close and reopen. If you get stuck, the Connection Help option in the same menu walks through common setups.
Want the display to open itself? Turn on Auto-open display window when external screen is connected in Preferences → Display, and Sidekick goes full-screen the moment you plug in.

Blackout and Show Logo
The two buttons at the top of the DISPLAY PREVIEW are your instant “nothing to see here” switches:
- Blackout — Fades the display to black. Click again to bring content back.
- Show Logo — Fades to your default logo instead of black. Set the logo in Preferences → Display → Default Logo
Both buttons turn red while active, and only one can be on at a time. Whatever was on screen stays queued underneath, so you return exactly where you left off.
Transitions
The Transition menu in the right sidebar sets how every change on the display dissolves — slide to slide, game to game, blackout on and off, all of it. Options run from Cut (instant) through fades of 0.3s up to 3.0s. The default 1-second dissolve looks polished for most rooms; live it at Cut if you want everything snappy. It’s one global setting, so your whole show has a consistent feel.
Title Graphics and Instructions
Most features let you set a Title Graphic (a full-screen branded image for the game) and On-Screen Instructions (text telling the audience how to play). During play, toggle them with the Show Title and Show Instructions pills in the play controls — or press F5 to flip the title graphic from the keyboard. Great for holding a branded screen while you set up the moment.
