Songs puts lyrics on the screen with clean formatting and easy navigation — built for song sets, so you spend your prep time on the set list, not on slide layout.
Creating a Song
Open Songs in the Feature Library and choose New Song from the + menu.

Lyrics
Paste your lyrics into the editor and you have two paths:
- Auto-Format Lyrics — Sidekick’s AI cleans up messy pasted text and organizes it into labeled sections like [Verse 1] and [Chorus]. Best for lyrics copied from the web with inconsistent spacing and no labels.
- Use the text as-is — If your lyrics are already tidy, skip the AI. Add section headers in square brackets ([Verse 1], [Chorus], [Bridge]) and Sidekick splits them into slides.
Either way, review the sections before you present — you can edit the text freely at any point.
Song Editor
The editor is a split view: lyrics on the left, live slide thumbnails on the right. The thumbnails follow your cursor, so you always see exactly which slide the line you’re editing lands on. Click a thumbnail to jump the editor there.
Sections — Each bracketed header becomes a section chip, color-coded by type (verse, chorus, bridge, and so on).
Arrangement — The arrangement strip is your play order. Drag section chips into it — a chorus can appear as many times as you sing it. Cards are numbered; drag to reorder, click the X to remove one. The arrangement, not the raw lyrics, is what plays on screen.
Styling — The toolbar sets the whole song’s look: font, size, color, bold, alignment (horizontal and vertical), and text shadow. Consistent by design — every slide in the song matches.
Backgrounds — The BG menu sets a background image or a background video for the song. Setting one clears the other.
Playing a Song
Click the play button (it activates once your arrangement has at least one section). Advance with Spacebar or the arrow keys — each press moves to the next slide in your arrangement. The thumbnail column stays visible on your control screen, so you always know what’s coming. Slipping a blank section at the start and end of the arrangement gives you a clean screen to enter and exit on.
Tips
- Build the full arrangement before the event — mid-song is not the time to hunt for the bridge.
- Background videos loop automatically and make a big difference to the feel of the room.
- Songs drop into presentations like any other document, so your whole set can live as one section of your program.
